Here are the first four letters I wrote for the letter exchange program. They are all inspired by real homelessness stories that I encountered during my research, and I tried to represent the vast diversity of homeless people there is, all with different backgrounds and different reasons that lead them to homelessness.
As I said, the stories are not real, in the sense that they don't belong to any homeless people in particular, but they are closely linked to some homeless people stories I encountered during my Easter research (interviews) as well as by my volunteering with homeless people in Madrid last year.
The idea with these letters is to give the reader more information about the homeless person they are going to write a letter to. I also explored the option of having the first letter sent by the other person instead of the homeless one, but I thought that it could limit the conversation, as the other persons doesn't kn ow anything about the homeless person he/she is talking to, what is he going to say then. If he/she gets to know the story of that person, he/she will be able to ask questions about aspects that interest him/her, etc...
